Chesterfield County–Dutch Gap Boat Landing, 441 Coxendale Road, Chester 

From Interstate 95 (north or south)
Take Exit 61-A (Route 10 East) toward Hopewell. Make a left at the first stoplight onto Old Stage Road (Route 732 North) and follow for two miles. At the first stop sign make a right onto Coxendale Road (Route 615 East) and follow to the end.

From Interstate 295 (east or west)
Take exit 15 (Route 10 West) toward Chester and follow for 3 ½ miles. Take a right onto Old Stage Road (Route 732 North) and follow for 2 miles. At the first stop sign make a right onto Coxendale Road (Route 615 East) and follow to the end.

Chesterfield County – Robious Landing, 3800 James River Road

From North or South:
Take Chippenham Pkwy. (Rt. 150) east to the Rt. 60 west Midlothian Turnpike exit.  Proceed west on Midlothian Turnpike (approx 4½ miles) to Robious Road and turn right.  Proceed west on Robious Road (approx. 5 miles) and turn right.  Proceed north on James River Road.  Registration in James River High School parking lot.

Or…From Huguenot Bridge, take Huguenot Road (approx. 5 miles) south to the intersection with Robious Road and turn right.  Proceed west on Robious Road (approx. 3 miles) and turn right.  Proceed north on James River Road.  Registration in James River High School parking lot.

Chesterfield -  Falling Creek Ironworks, 6201 Jefferson Davis Highway 

From the Chippenham Parkway, exit south on Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1/301), take the first left turn into the Falling Creek Apartments after crossing Falling Creek.

From the south turn right into the Falling Creek Apartments off of the Jefferson Davis Highway before the Falling Creek Bridge.
Falling Creek crosses the highway between DuPont and Bellwood.

Charles City County – VCU Rice Center

The Rice Center is approximately 40 minutes from town on the right hand side of Rt. 5.
From Richmond, take Rt. 5 East (New Market Road) out of town.
Continue on Rt. 5 for approximately 20 miles, past I-295 and Curles Neck Farm.
You will come to a blinking light at the intersection of Rt. 106. The entrance to Rice is approx. ½ mile past the light on the right hand side of Rt. 5.
Look for a small run down grocery store called Ghee’s Grocery on the left.
The entrance to Rice is directly across from Ghee’s.
Take a sharp right onto the gravel road and go through the entrance gate to the property. Follow the road to the river (approx. 1 mile).
If you cross Kimages Creek on Rt. 5 , you have gone too far. Turn around and come back.

 

Henrico County – Osborne Boat Landing, 9680-B Osborne Turnpike

From Interstate 64 (east or west)
Take Exit 195 (Laburnum Avenue). Go south on Laburnum Avenue and then left onto New Market Rd (approximately 7 miles). Travel on New Market Rd approximately 2 ½ miles and take a right onto Strath Rd (Food Lion on the right). Follow Strath Road to a stop sign and turn right onto Kingsland Road, which turns into Osborne Turnpike. Travel approximately 2 ½ miles (slowly – 90-degree turn to right) and turn left into Osborne Boat Landing.

From Interstate 295 (north or south)
Take Exit 22B (Varina/Route 5). Travel seven-tenths of a mile and turn left onto Strath Road. Follow Strath Road to a stop sign and turn right onto Kingsland Road, which turns into Osborne Turnpike. Travel approximately 2 ½ miles (slowly – 90-degree turn to right) and turn left into Osborne Boat Landing.

Henrico County – Horsepen Branch, Reed Road

Turn onto Falmouth Street from 6202 Broad Street next to the Goodwill Store.  Turn Right onto Indigo Road.  Turn left onto Reed Road.  Registration will take place at the end of Reed Road (this is a dead end).

City of Richmond – James River Park - Reedy Creek - 4101 Riverside Drive

From North
North on Chippenham Pkwy. (Rt. 150). Take the Jahnke Road (Rt. 686, Hospital) exit.  Turn Right on Jahnke Road…follow to Riverside Drive.  Turn Right on Forest Hill Ave…follow to 42nd St.  Turn left on 42nd …follow to Riverside Drive.  Turn Right on Riverside Drive.  At the bottom of the hill.  Turn left into the parking lot (across from Hillcrest Drive). Cross the railroad tracks.

From South
South on I-195 to Powhite Pkwy. (across James River)…Take the Forest Hill Avenue exit.  Turn left onto Forest Hill Ave…follow to 42nd Street.  Turn left on 42nd …follow to Riverside Drive.  Turn Right on Riverside drive…at the bottom of the hill…turn left into the parking lot (across from Hillcrest Drive).  Cross the railroad tracks.

City of Richmond – James River Park – Pony Pasture Rapids

From the south end of the Huguenot Road Bridge (VA 147), follow Riverside Drive east for approximately 2 miles. The main Pony Pasture Rapids parking lot is on the left just after the road curves away from the river.

You may also access the park from Forest Hill Avenue, which intersects Chippenham Parkway (VA 150) to the southwest and Powhite Parkway (VA 76) to the southeast. 

Turn north from Forest Hill onto Hathaway Road.  Proceed to a Y intersection and veer left.  The road (now Scottview Drive) makes a sharp left to become Riverside Drive. Turn right, again, to remain on Riverside, and the parking area will be your next right.  A smaller eastern parking lot is also accessible from Forest Hill by turning right from Hathaway Road onto Wallowa Road. Take the second left onto Landrai Drive, which dead-ends adjacent to the park.

Goochland County – Westview Landing, 1151 Westview Road 

Travel west on Route 6 to Goochland Courthouse, turn left onto Rock Castle .  Travel towards the river for approximately 2 ½ miles, Turn right onto Westview Road.  Follow to the boat landing.

Powhatan County – Maidens Landing, Rt. 522 (Maidens Road)

From Henrico:
Travel west on Patterson Avenue (Route 6), just before reaching Goochland, turn left on Route 522 (Maidens Road).   Cross the bridge (James River). Maidens Boat Landing is the first right after the bridge.  Parking is beside the south side of the river.

From Chesterfield:
Travel west on Route 60 (Midlothian Turnpike).  Turn right at the stoplight (in Powhatan) at Route 522 (Maidens Road).  Travel approximately 11 miles.  Turn left before the bridge (crosses the James River).  Maidens Landing is located on your right.

 

Appomattox and Buckingham Counties - James River State Park

LOCATION: Buckingham County. From U.S. 60 West, turn right onto Route 605 at the James River Bridge. Travel seven miles, then turn left onto Route 606.

From Richmond,:
Travel west on highway. Take Rt. 60 towards Amherst for about 60 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 605, and then go 7 miles to the park entrance on the left.

From Lynchburg:
Travel east on 460 to Appomattox. Take the Rt. 26 exit (Business 460). Turn left at stop sign onto Rt. 26. Continue about 12 miles to stop sign at Rt. 60 and go straight across 60 onto Rt. 605. Continue 7 miles to the park entrance on left.

From Farmville:
Travel Rt. 15 north to Dillwyn, Sprouses Corner. Turn left onto Rt. 60 west and continue for about 25 miles. Turn right on Rt. 605 and go about 7 miles to park entrance on left.
