Welcome New JRAC Co-Chairmen

The James River Advisory Council (JRAC) is pleased to announce that Ralph Hambrick has been elected as JRAC’s new co-chairman. Jim and Ralph are longtime JRAC members and are committed to providing leadership for the organization. We are excited about the new leadership and look forward to working on upcoming issues, plans and events! Get ready to roll up your sleeves and move JRAC to the next level.

Ralph HambrickRalph Hambrick

Ralph Hambrick is professor emeritus in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. He retired from VCU in 2005 after 27 years as a member of the faculty. At VCU he taught courses in public policy and public administration and served in a number of administrative positions, including director, Center for Public Affairs, director, Doctor of Public Administration Program, director, Master of Public Administration Program, director, Virginia Capital Semester. He also has taught at the University of South Carolina and at Texas A&M University. He has published in a number of professional and academic journals.

Dr. Hambrick received the 2005 Distinguished Service Award in the College of Humanities and Sciences. Among other community activities, he has served as chair of
the Falls of the James Scenic River Advisory Committee, co-chair of the James River Advisory Council, member of the Virginia Scenic River Advisory Board, and member of
the board of the James River Outdoor Coalition.

He received a BA from Dartmouth College in 1965 and a Ph.D. from Syracuse University in 1971.
